Pierre-Edouard Stérin’s Ambitious €150 Million Plan to Shift French Politics
Pierre-Édouard Stérin, the conservative entrepreneur and co-founder of the Smartbox group, has launched a bold initiative aimed at reshaping the French political landscape. With an investment of €150 million and a series of training courses for municipal candidates, Stérin’s project seeks to bolster the far-right Rassemblement National (RN) and the right-wing Les Républicains (LR).
Stérin, a main shareholder of Smartbox and founder of Otium Capital, operates from his office in Paris. His agenda promotes French identity, liberalism, and “Christian anthropology,” positioning socialism, “wokism,” and immigration as the primary adversaries.
For over a year, Stérin, a tax exile residing in Belgium, has been navigating the French political scene under the aegis of an association named Pericles, established on July 7, 2023. According to a report by the communist newspaper L’Humanité, an internal document from Stérin’s team details the objectives of this political endeavor, aiming to engage in a battle of ideas to shift the ideological, electoral, and political balance in favor of the far right.
This confidential document, dated fall 2023 and also obtained by Le Journal du Dimanche, outlines a decade-long plan to invest €150 million to “enable the ideological, electoral and political victory” of the far right. Stérin’s vision is to facilitate the rise of identitarian and Islamophobic ideas supported by the far right, coupled with the liberal and conservative goals of the right.
As this ambitious project unfolds, it is set to significantly impact the dynamics of French politics, posing new challenges and reshaping the discourse around key national issues.
