After a successful transition to Real Madrid, where he scored in the 2-0 victory over Atalanta Bergamo in the European Supercup, Kylian Mbappé is now focused on resolving a financial dispute with his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Nearly two months after his contract with PSG ended, the French national team captain has yet to receive €55 million owed to him under his contract.
This sum includes €36 million, the final third of his signing bonus, which was due in February, as well as the wages for the final three months of his contract (April, May, June) and an “ethical bonus” for those months. Despite a formal notice sent to PSG in mid-June, Mbappé has not received the payments.
In response, Mbappé has escalated the issue to legal authorities. He has lodged a complaint with the French Professional Football League’s (LFP) legal committee and has also involved the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) through the French Football Federation (FFF). The complaint cites Article 259 of France’s professional football charter, which mandates that “wages must be paid by clubs to players under contract by the last day of each month at the latest, under the conditions of ordinary law.”
Mbappé’s move to the legal route underscores his determination to resolve the financial dispute while maintaining a low profile.
